Founder's Vision · A National Platform

A Citizen's Dream for Australia.

Eby Mathew founded I Am An Australian with a simple conviction: that Australia's future depends on unity, respect, good leadership, cultural understanding, and a renewed love for this extraordinary country.

"This platform is not about one man's story. It is about Australia's story — ancient, complex, courageous, multicultural, unfinished, and full of promise."

Founder's Vision

I Am An Australian was born from a deeply personal dream: to see Australia prosper, lead with wisdom, honour its history truthfully, respect its First Peoples, welcome every culture with dignity, and prepare the next generation to carry this country forward with courage and unity.

Its founder, Eby Mathew, is an Australian citizen who believes patriotism is not about division, anger, or political noise. True patriotism is responsibility. It is gratitude. It is service. It is the willingness to learn from the past, protect what is good, correct what is wrong, and build a better future together.

Eby's vision is for an Australia where First Nations peoples, born Australians, and cross-cultural migrant communities can stand together with mutual respect — not as competing stories, but as part of one shared national journey.

He believes Australia's strength is found in its ancient heritage, democratic institutions, multicultural society, local communities, service traditions, innovation, education, and the quiet decency of ordinary people who want this country to do well.

Section 02

Why this platform exists

I Am An Australian exists because a nation does not stay strong by accident.

A country is strengthened when its people understand its history, respect its First Peoples, honour those who served, participate in democracy, support good leadership, protect the environment, celebrate local communities, and teach young people to love their country with wisdom rather than ignorance.

This platform was created to help Australians:

  • Learn the history of this land with honesty and respect
  • Honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia
  • Understand the importance of ANZAC, service, sacrifice, and national remembrance
  • Celebrate the contribution of migrants and multicultural communities
  • Respect police, defence, emergency services, teachers, scientists, health workers, volunteers, and community leaders
  • Understand government, elections, civic responsibility, and respectful public debate
  • Support environmental protection and care for Country
  • Showcase Australian innovation, universities, science, medicine, schools, sports, arts, local councils, cities, and regions
  • Give citizens a constructive way to raise ideas and concerns for the good of the nation

Section 03

A bridge between peoples

Eby believes one of Australia's greatest opportunities is to build a stronger bridge between First Nations peoples, migrant communities, and born Australians.

This begins with listening.

It means acknowledging that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold the oldest continuous living cultures on earth and have an enduring connection to Country, waters, language, community, and story.

It also means recognising that generations of migrants have come to Australia seeking safety, opportunity, freedom, and a better future for their children — and that many now love this country deeply and want to contribute to its future.

And it means honouring the families who have lived here across generations, worked the land, built towns and cities, served in uniform, raised communities, defended democratic institutions, and carried the Australian story forward.

Australia does not need one group to diminish another. Australia needs a shared table where truth, respect, contribution, and responsibility can live together.

Section 04

Leadership for the next generation

Eby's dream is not only about today's Australia. It is about the Australians who will lead tomorrow.

The next generation must inherit more than buildings, roads, technology, and institutions. They must inherit values.

They must inherit:

  • Respect for First Nations heritage
  • Love for country
  • Courage to serve
  • Emotional maturity in public debate
  • Respect for democracy
  • Gratitude for freedom
  • Responsibility toward the environment
  • Appreciation for cultural diversity
  • Pride in Australian achievement
  • Commitment to fairness, hard work, and community

I Am An Australian is built to help young people see their country not as a source of division, but as a shared responsibility.

My dream is to see Australians from every background — First Nations peoples, born Australians, and migrant communities — stand together with respect, responsibility, and love for this country. If we teach the next generation to understand Australia deeply and serve it wisely, the future will be stronger than the past.
— Eby Mathew, Founder of I Am An Australian

Section 05

Patriotism with respect

The platform's patriotism is not aggressive. It is not narrow. It is not about excluding anyone.

It is a patriotism rooted in:

  • Truth
  • Respect
  • Service
  • Unity
  • Gratitude
  • Responsibility
  • Courage
  • Hope

To say "I Am An Australian" should mean more than living within borders. It should mean choosing to contribute to the future of this country.

It should mean caring about neighbours, respecting difference, standing against racism, honouring sacrifice, protecting the vulnerable, seeking good leadership, and helping build a nation where every child can grow with dignity and opportunity.

Section 06

A non-partisan national platform

This platform is not created for one political party, ideology, race, religion, or community.

It is created for Australians who believe that disagreement does not have to become hatred, that democracy requires maturity, and that a strong nation needs citizens who can speak honestly while still respecting one another.

Australians should be able to raise concerns, question policies, support causes, and voice opinions without attacking the dignity of others.

That is why I Am An Australian includes the Public Voice platform — a place where people can raise ideas and community concerns constructively, gather support, and help important messages reach the appropriate level of government.

Strong voices are welcome. Division is not the goal. Better outcomes are the goal.

Section 07

The dream

Eby Mathew's dream is simple but ambitious:

To see Australia become a nation where people from every background can say with confidence:

"This is my country. I respect its First Peoples. I honour its sacrifices. I value its freedoms. I care for its future. I will do my part."

This is the spirit behind I Am An Australian.

  • 01It is a call to remember.
  • 02A call to learn.
  • 03A call to respect.
  • 04A call to unite.
  • 05A call to build.
  • 06And above all, a call to love Australia well.
